Bank, Credit‑Bureau, and Insurer Integrations

Connections & integrations

Read‑only discovery across banks and credit unions nationwide; tri‑bureau liabilities; SOC 2 Type II; FDIC‑insured estate account (up to $3M).

Last updated: November 20, 2025

Why these integrations matter

Sunset’s automation is only as strong as its connections. Our platform searches and verifies assets and liabilities across banks and brokerages, the three major credit bureaus, insurers, employers, and government programs so families can inventory everything quickly without unnecessary alerts or outreach. See details in our product pages for how it works, bank accounts, investment accounts, credit cards and debt, life insurance, and retirement accounts.

How connections work (non‑alerting)

Family inputs decedent + executor details
Secure queries to data sources (banks/brokers, credit bureaus, insurers, property + gov records)
search is nonalerting to institutions during discovery (life insurance is the exception)
Candidate accounts + liabilities compiled and deduplicated
Executor reviews selects items for action (nothing proceeds without explicit approval)
With approval, Sunset acts on behalf of the estate (per Terms) to confirm balances, close/transfer
Funds consolidate to an FDICinsured estate account expenses paid final distributions

Discovery is non‑alerting to financial institutions except for life insurance; user approval gates any outreach and account actions. Estate funds consolidate to an FDIC‑insured account (up to $3M). References: How it works, Bank account search, Life insurance search.

Connects to banks

Sunset searches every major U.S. bank and credit union and supports brokerage/custody platforms for investments—without notifying institutions during discovery. Typical account types include checking, savings, money market, CDs, brokerage, managed accounts, 529/education, DRIPs, and more. When the executor approves, we handle the paperwork to close or transfer, then consolidate into the estate account. See Bank account search and Investment account search. Timing: most assets surface within one business day; some bank balance confirmations can take up to two weeks. Sources: Bank account search, How it works.

Credit‑bureau‑validated

For liabilities, Sunset retrieves and validates data directly from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion to assemble a complete view of credit cards, personal/business loans, auto loans, mortgages/HELOCs, student loans, medical debt, lines of credit, and collections. Results are typically available next day, and creditors are not notified during this discovery. Source: Credit cards & debt search.

Verify/list every account

  • Speed: most assets and liabilities are located within one business day of signup.

  • Completeness: discovery spans banks, brokers, insurers, property, and government data.

  • Executor control: nothing moves forward without explicit approval; actions are gated.

  • Transparency: balances are confirmed prior to transfer; life insurance matches typically verify in 2–3 business days after documentation.

  • Outcome: funds consolidate to an estate account you control; FDIC insurance applies up to $3M. Sources: How it works, Bank account search, Life insurance search.

Integrates with employer and government programs

Sunset searches employer‑provided and government benefit programs tied to the decedent, including group life insurance and federal/military benefits. Examples include SGLI, VGLI, FEGLI, and retirement plans such as TSP and military pensions. Our software helps confirm eligibility, surface policies/accounts, and initiate claims or rollovers as appropriate. Sources: Life insurance search, Retirement account search.
